Dogger Bank Wind Farm is an offshore wind farm being developed in three phases – Dogger Bank A, B and C – located between 130km and 190km from the North East coast of England at their nearest points.
Each phase will have an installed generation capacity of 1.2GW and represents a multi-billion pound investment. Combined, they will have an installed capacity of 3.6GW and will be capable of powering up to 6 million homes.
Collectively they will become the world’s largest offshore wind farm.

The new 1,600 tonnes crane was successfully installed onboard, making the vessel ready to handle the latest generation of foundations and turbines for offshore wind projects. The crane, designed and built by Huisman, was installed by Heerema’s Thialf.The leg encircling crane is built around the portside aft jack-up leg and the boom is stored around the forward leg, saving valuable deck space. The new crane can lift almost twice as much as the Aeolus’ previous crane.

BorWin3 is the third project to be implemented by TenneT off the coast of Borkum using direct current technology in addition to the BorWin1 and BorWin2 grid connection projects.
At the Emden/Ost site, TenneT set up a converter station with a transformer station to convert the energy generated at sea from direct current into three-phase current and feed it into the power grid from there. In total, a distance of 160 kilometers has to be bridged, whereby the wind power is first transported to Hamswehrum via a 130-kilometer long submarine cable to the west of Borkum and from there via a 30 kilometer long underground cable to Emden/East.
